Taekwondo Nova Scotia (TKDNS) is the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) for Taekwondo in Nova Scotia. We are a member-based organization serving a network of clubs across the province, dedicated to promoting excellence in Taekwondo training, competition, and athlete development.
As the governing body for Taekwondo in Nova Scotia, TKDNS works to develop and support athletes, coaches, and officials at all levels - from grassroots community programs to high-performance competitive athletes representing Nova Scotia nationally and internationally.
Our organization is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where participants of all ages can develop athletic skills, build character, and embody the five tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
TKDNS operates under the guidance of Taekwondo Canada and works in partnership with Sport Nova Scotia to deliver high-quality programs, competitions, and development opportunities throughout the province.
What We Do

TKDNS organizes and sanctions provincial tournaments, seminars, and training camps throughout the year, providing competitive opportunities and skill development for all levels.

We offer training, certification, and ongoing professional development for coaches, referees, and technical officials to ensure the highest standards of instruction and competition management.

TKDNS supports athlete development from recreational participation through to high-performance pathways, including provincial team selection and national team opportunities.

Governance & Leadership
Taekwondo Nova Scotia is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by our member clubs. The Board is responsible for strategic direction, policy development, and ensuring the organization fulfills its mandate as the Provincial Sport Organization for Taekwondo.
Board members bring diverse backgrounds and expertise in sport administration, coaching, athlete development, and business management. Together, they work to advance the sport of Taekwondo across Nova Scotia while maintaining the highest standards of governance and accountability.
TKDNS operates in accordance with policies and best practices set by Sport Nova Scotia, Taekwondo Canada, and the Canadian Sport for Life framework.
Safe Sport
TKDNS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants. We maintain comprehensive policies addressing harassment, abuse, and discrimination, aligned with the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS).
Health & Safety
The health and safety of our community is our top priority. TKDNS follows comprehensive safety protocols including concussion management, emergency action plans, and injury prevention strategies to ensure all participants can train and compete safely.
Fair Play & Ethics
We uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, fair play, and ethical conduct. All participants are expected to demonstrate respect, integrity, and adherence to the spirit of Taekwondo both on and off the mat, in training and competition.
